400Tools is a free suite of 32+ online PDF tools. Merge, split, compress, convert, edit, sign, protect, OCR, summarize, translate and more — all in one place, right in your browser. No downloads, no watermarks, no complicated software.
Is 400Tools really free?+
Yes. All tools are free to use for files up to 50 MB and PDFs up to 100 pages. There are no watermarks on your output, no forced sign-up, and no credit card required. Premium is completely optional — it's only needed if you regularly work with larger files or want offline and automation features. See

Do I need to install anything?+
No. 400Tools runs directly in your browser on any modern device — desktop, tablet, or mobile. There is nothing to install and no updates to manage. Just open a tool and go. An optional Desktop app is available for offline work with Premium.
Which browsers are supported?+
The latest versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari are all fully supported. Because processing happens in your browser, keeping your browser up to date gives you the best performance and security.

Which file types can I work with?+
PDF is the core format. Conversion tools also support Word (DOC/DOCX), Excel (XLS/XLSX/CSV), PowerPoint (PPT/PPTX), images (JPG/PNG and more), HTML, and plain text — plus Markdown output. Browse the full list on the

Is there a file size or page limit?+
On the free plan, files up to 50 MB and PDFs up to 100 pages are supported. Premium removes both limits entirely, so you can work with documents of any size.
How does Merge PDF work?+
Upload two or more PDFs, arrange them in the order you want using the up/down arrows, then click "Merge PDFs". Your combined file downloads instantly. You can try it right now on the

Will my document quality be reduced?+
No. Tools like Merge, Split, Organize, Rotate, and Protect work on the PDF structure itself, so quality is preserved exactly. For conversion tools (e.g. PDF to Word), output quality depends on how complex the original layout is — simple text-heavy documents convert best.
Can I process multiple files at once?+
Yes — most tools accept multiple files in one go (look for "drop PDF files here"). For larger recurring batches, Premium unlocks batch processing and custom workflows that chain several tools together automatically.
🔒 Privacy & security
Are my files safe and private?+
Yes. Wherever possible, processing happens entirely in your browser — your files never leave your device. For the few tools that require server processing, files are transferred over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and automatically deleted from our servers once processing is complete. We never read, share, or use your documents for any other purpose.
Do you store my files?+
No permanent storage. Browser-side tools never upload anything at all. Server-processed files are held only for the few seconds needed to do the work, then permanently deleted. Nothing is kept for review, training, or backup.
Do you use my documents to train AI models?+
Never. Your documents are yours alone. AI-powered tools like AI Summarizer process your content on demand and discard it immediately — it is not used to train models or retained in any way.

Do I need an account to use 400Tools?+
No. Every free tool works without signing up — just open it and upload your file. An account is only needed to manage a Premium subscription and sync your settings across devices.
What do I get with Premium?+
Premium removes the file size and page count limits, gives you unlimited use of every tool, and unlocks Desktop access for offline work, advanced OCR for scanned documents, custom workflows, batch processing, and priority support. Compare plans on the

Can I cancel anytime?+
Absolutely. You can cancel your subscription at any time from your account's billing portal. You'll keep Premium access until the end of the period you've already paid for — no questions asked.
What payment methods do you accept?+
All payments are securely processed by Paddle. You can pay with major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex), and in many regions with PayPal and other local payment methods. All prices are in USD.

How do I contact support?+
Use the Contact us link in the footer, or email our team directly. Free users typically hear back within 48 hours; Premium members get priority support with faster response times.
I found a bug — how do I report it?+
We'd love to hear about it. Send us a message with the tool name, your browser and OS, and what happened (screenshots help a lot). We release fixes continuously and verify every report.
